Development of a Clinical Pathway - a standard approach to the patient

Clinical pathways are structured, multidisciplinary care plans that translate broad medical guidelines into step-by-step local workflows to standardize care for a specific clinical problem. Also known as care maps, they sequence clinical tasks by time (such as hours, days, or visits) to improve patient outcomes and control healthcare costs. Clinical pathways detail the steps in a course of diagnostics, treatment or care in a plan, pathway, algorithm or protocol.
